Questrade just introduced a new program that seems to be encouraging people to invest heavily in ETFs. You can now purchase ETFs completely commission free! Well kind of, you still pay the commission fee but they will put the money back in my account in a couple of days. With this in mind I was able to purchase a single share to expose my portfolio to bonds. Ignoring my shares in SPoT (
SPP.VN) my portfolio is now divided as follows:
Small (
XCS.TO) 21.94%
Mid (
XMD.TO) 25.49%
Large (
XIU.TO) 32.07%
International (
XIN.TO) 16.30%
Bonds (
XSB.TO) 4.17%
Now the only purchase I still have to make is a cash-equivalent ETF. I'm thinking I'll purchase one that tracks gold/silver but I need to wait until I have some more funds before I do that.
